Bali – Divers Paradise And The Best Place To Relax
Every year I am organizing a trip to this beautiful place. Usually the trip is happening during the Songkran time in Thailand, which is in April. At that time the raining season is over in Bali, and the weather is very nice.
Many times I am asked about the trip details, and for that reason a made this page to contain the main general information.
The details of each particular trip are always listed in the actual trip posts.
There are plenty airlines flying from all over the world to Bali. I am not listing all of them here, however if you travel from Thailand, then you can choose between very cheap flights with Air Asia if you book in advance, as low as 7.000 Baht ($230) return. The other airlines includes but are not limited too, Thai Airways and the Singapore Airlines.
After arriving to Denpasar (DPS), Ngurah Rai airport in Bali, there is an approximately 75 kilometers long drive to the hotel. It takes about one and half hour. The airport transfer is included in the price.
For visitors from most of the countries there is visa on arrival available. The normal tourist visa cost $35 and is valid for 30 days stay. Here you can obtain more detailed information on Visa.
The hotel is a bungalow hotel, the Ida Beach Village. Every bungalow is equipped with hot-water shower and air-conditioning. The hotel is located directly on the shore in the village named Candidasa. Candidasa is located on the South-East coast of Bali. From here we have easy access to the best dive sites on Bali.
The hotel is having swimming pool, laundry service, massage service and safety box at the reception.
The dive sites which are in the immediate reach from hotel include Gili Minpang, Tepekong, Biaha, White Sand Beach, Shark Point, Secret Pinnacle.
With a short car transfer we are able to dive the East coast where the famous USS Liberty Shipwreck is lying. Also we are close to beautiful coral gardens of Amed and the Japanese Wreck.
The special trip to Manta Point on the other side of nearby island of Nusa Penida can be also organised. On such day we are diving the Manta Point followed by the famous Crystal Bay. If the conditions allow we are making a third dive on the northern side of the island, drifting along.
The internet service on Bali is becoming very good. The 3G network is having a great coverage, and can be used in hotel. The easiest way is to buy a local internet SIM, which is very cheap. You will need an USB air card into which you can fit the SIM if your device is not ready for it.
Depending on scheduling there is always possibility to participate in different programs too, like wild water rafting, visiting Reptile and Bird Park, Visit many different Temples, climb Volcanoes, go shopping.
Most of them can be organised as afternoon programs, so you can enjoy diving and the programs too.
Money and prices
The money in Bali (Indonesia) is Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). For exact exchange rate refer here, however you can make a proximate calculation based on 1 USD = 12.900 IDR (Mar 2015). Yes, you will be a millionaire from 100 Dollars 🙂
There are also ATM’s in most places. 4 in Candidasa (2014). It is good to have multiple cards, because not every ATM is accepting every card.
The prices in Indonesia are low. Comparing for example to Thailand, everything is about 20-30% cheaper. You can dine in an average priced place for 10 Dollars including a drink.
Below you can find some photos from underwater world and the hotel and other programs.
