PADI IDC – Instructor Development Course

Debriefing during an Open Water session on IDC

Instructor candidate demonstrating debriefing of the practiced skills on IDC

To become a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) you must attend an Instructor Development Course (IDC). This is a program during which you will learn about PADI system and how to teach PADI courses like Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver and Divemaster.

Your dive theory knowledge must be up-to-date, there is no teaching of it during the IDC. If you feel that you need some additional tuition, I can arrange it for you prior to the IDC in form of classroom practice.

During the IDC you will learn how to prepare in classroom knowledge development teaching presentations, confined water teaching presentations and open water teaching presentations. You will get an overview of the dive industry and hints and tips for your future career as PADI Instructor.

After passing the IDC you will attend an IE (Instructor Examination). This is conducted by independent PADI examiner, and must be done within 12 months after completing of the IDC. In Pattaya you have this possibility almost every month and if necessary within Thailand even more often. You can find the IE-Calender here.

For IDC schedule please contact me because the duration of it may differ depending on your current status and readiness level. For example if you are a certified PADI Assistant Instructor, or you are a PADI Divemaster who completed the IDC online, then your IDC will be shorter compering to a Divemaster with some lacks of knowledge in dive theory.
